Who controls the encryption keys? If the answer to any of these requires a follow-up call with engineering, the deal has already started moving backward.
AI that runs inside the institution's own environment, governed by its own access controls and audit frameworks, does not require a separate compliance story. The compliance story is built into the architecture. If your product is genuinely built for regulated environments, the compliance officer is your most powerful internal advocate, not your biggest obstacle. They are the person in the room who understands exactly what the institution is exposed to without your product, and what it would mean to have a defensible answer ready before the examiner asks.
Reaching that person requires arriving with their questions already answered. Not in an appendix. Not in a follow-up. In the first conversation.
